The Skagit-Island Special Needs Transportation Committee has been created for 2014 by the Skagit-Island Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SIRTPO) Policy Board. The committee is leading a planning process for the development of a coordinated public transit-human services transportation (HSTP) plan for the two-county region. They will also assist with prioritizing special needs transportation projects around the region.
Member organizations that volunteered to serve on the committee and were approved by the SIRTPO Policy Board are:
- Camano Center
- Community Action
- Island Transit
- Disabled American Veterans
- Northwest Educational Services District #189
- Northwest Regional Council
- Opportunity Council
- Skagit Transit
- Swinomish Indian Tribal Community
- Volunteers of America
- Washington State Department of Transportation
The planning process is now underway and will conclude in December 2014 with plan adoption. The committee will be meeting regularly throughout the planning process.
The first meeting of the committee will be July 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the SCOG offices. The agenda for the meeting can be found here. Information on the current HSTP, including the plan itself, can be found here.
